   FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

   Q.  Tell me about the Farmington Hills 12U Tigers.  What is the history?
   A.  The 12U Tigers are a second year team that has a core of players from South Farmington
baseball.  The team finished just under .500 for the 2008 KVBSA league season, and
represented itself well in tournament play.  The 12U Tigers have a lot of potential, and
plan to improve tremendously in the upcoming year with some new additions and a
continued dedication to working hard on individual and team skills.

   Q.  Who is the 12U Tigers manager?  What are his credentials and track record?
   A.  Mike Lantz is the manager.  Coach Lantz has 29 years of baseball experience,
including 13 years of experience managing youth baseball teams.  He has coached
several players who have played on local travel teams as well as gone on to success
in high school baseball.  Prior to managing the 12U Tigers, Mike managed 8U, 9U and
10U tournament teams, as well as a 10U development program for South Farmington.
His teams have won championships in both tournament and house baseball.

   Q.  Who are the 12U Tigers assistant coaches?  Are there any professional coaches?
   A.  There are 5 main assistant coaches with many years of youth coaching experience
between them.  All were assistants for Coach Lantz the past two season.  All parents
are encouraged to help out during practices, since they are typically organized into
multiple stations that require many to supervise.  There are no full-time professional
instructors on the coaching staff, but they will be hired to run practices when needed.

   Q.  When are the tryouts for the 2009 season?  What is the cost?
   A.  The tryout dates are Wednesday August 13th, Monday August 18th and Friday August
22nd from 6:30pm-8:45pm at Founders Sports Park #3.  There is no cost to tryout.

   Q.  How many players will be on the team?
   A.  12 players, and if they are on the team they will play (not sit).

   Q.  What are the residency requirements for the team?
   A.  None.

   Q.  When and how will I find out if my child is offered a position on the team?
   A.  Coach Lantz will contact each family personally to either offer their baseball player an
opportunity to join the team, or to tell them that their baseball player has not made the
team.  Final decisions will be made after the second tryout.

   Q.  What will my financial obligation be to secure a position on the team?
   A.  A budget is in place and an initial payment of $200 secures a spot on the team provided
an offer is made to your baseball player.  The initial payments cover fall baseball
spring/summer league fees, tournament fees and equipment needs.

   Q.  What would be my total cost for the season?  What is the payment schedule?
   A.  The total cost for each family will be outlined prior to the start of the fall season.  The
plan is to have three payments in February, March and April to cover the cost of
equipment, uniforms, umpire fees, field preparation, indoor practices and tournaments.
The total cost can be reduced if sponsorships are obtained and if there is some
successful fundraising done by the team.

   Q.  Are there any sponsors of the team?
   A.  Click here for more information.

   Q.  What can the team offer a possible sponsor for their support?

   Q.  What is the schedule for the fall months?
   A.  For 2008, the 12U Tigers will have a reduced schedule during September and October,
practicing once a week and playing games once a week.  Plans are being finalized and
should be settled by tryouts.  Players are always encouraged to sign up for professional
instruction to work individually each day on fundamentals and skills.  There will be no
team activities planned during November and December.

   Q.  What is the schedule for the winter months?
   A.  For 2009, the 12U Tigers will begin practices in mid January.  This will include
weekly gym practices at a local elementary school, and weekly batting practices at
The Bullpen.  A few of the gym practices will be switched to indoor practices at
         Precision Baseball.

   Q.  What is the schedule for the spring/summer season?  Will it include league play?
   A.  For 2009, the 12U Tigers will play in the Kensington Valley Baseball and Softball
Association 12U division.  The games will begin in mid April and complete the first week
of July.  For those teams that qualify, KVBSA league playoffs will be during the second
         week of July.

   Q.  Will there be tournaments?  How many?  Where will they be?
   A.  For 2009, the 12U Tigers will play in 4-5 tournaments depending on the number of league
games and how the game scheduling affects the weekends.  Nearly all will be local
(within an hour drive), with the possibility of one being out-of-town.

   Q.  Will the 12U Tigers participate in the Cooperstown Dreams Park tournament?
   A.  In 2009, the 12U Tigers will play in the tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park
sometime after the league season.  The dates will not be know until after October 1, 2009.
The plans is to find some sponsorships and do some fundraising to reduce the cost.  If
some families cannot participate, players from outside the team may be invited to
         substitute if needed.

   Q.  What other special events are planned for this team?
   A.  Tournaments, professional instruction, parties, fun fundraisers, and informal team
         get-togethers (restaurants, Tigers games, etc).

   Q.  Why should my child think about trying out for the 12U Tigers?
   A.  Great coaching with a proven track record of player development, wonderful families
and a bunch of fun activities and events.
